The game features 4 different game modes- Career, Quick Race, Challenge, and multiplayer. The police can often stop and interrupt your race, and depending on the heat level can instantly end the race. You then have to find and beat different bosses to gain access to new areas and to new cars. Like in previous Need for Speed games, you take control of a street racer who takes part in illegal street races.
